Why Does Article Marketing Have a Long Term ROI Higher Than PPC?

I get a variation of this question a lot in my coaching programs. I am just a real avid supporter of article marketing (almost all of my first time visitors come from article marketing) and so naturally when I coach and teach, I recommend article marketing. But sometimes what happens is that someone writes 5 articles and posts them to the article directories and gets...a few subscribers to their site - and then they become discouraged. They think, well I can get 100 subscribers a day with PPC. And of course that is true - I can get 500 or more per day with PPC.

But the difference is the PPC ones just don't convert like the article marketing ones.
