Press Releases used to be a communicartion tool used only by large companies with a large PR budget.  You had to have a staff of writers or hire an agency to produce the Releases and and use a multi-thousand dollar, entrenched distribution system.

No longer.  Like every other aspect of communication and information today, the Internet allows anyone to obtain the benefits of Press Releases, using talented professionals accessible through your computer, and at very low costs once unimaginable.


 

Three Ways to Distribute Press Releases

Press Releases can be used in a way similar to Articles to gain Search Engine rankings (backlinks) and traffic for your site.  There are three keys to using Press Releases effectively.

  1. Have newsworthy information - if the information is not interesting, PR distribution sites will not accept it.  Try to come up with something you would be interested in, such as a new product introduction, recognition of your company or a milestone met.
  2. It must be written correctly - though good Press Releases are relatively short, it takes a certain amount of skill to write them to grab attention.  They must also be structured in a way the receiver expects to get the information.
  3. It must be distributed - you can certainly use it on your own site, but to get the real benefit, the Press Release must get in front of other people and on other sites.

You are not writing for yourself (a sales pitch) or for search engines (cramming in key words); you are writing for the Reader.
